I have been a Lingít language learner for the past five years since first moving to Southeast Alaska in 2021. Learning this language has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. Over the past few years, members of my language community have commissioned me, or granted me permission, to replicate historical designs for their preservation. These works have never been made for profit— these commissions have always been given as gifts to whomever the design belongs. I am incredibly thankful for my communityʼs generosity— Sh tóoghaa xhat ditee.
